USRA Mid-South Nationals a huge success at Race City Raceway! - By Charli Brown


Former NASCAR Nationwide Series champion Jeff Green won the "Busch Series" Division of the USRA Mid South Nationals while Mike LaRochelle (Left) and Dan Jones (Right) finished second and third.

Mooresville, NC - The USRA Mid South Nationals brought slot car racers from all over the southeast to Mooresville, North Carolina and Race City Raceway for two full days of competitive slot car racing featuring five different divisions on two different tracks.

Race City Raceway regulars Jeff Green, Mike LaRochelle and Dan Jones swept the top three finishing positions in the USRA "Busch Series" division on the "Green Monster" oval, while Dan Jones also won the USRA Truck division race.

"I'm so proud of our guys and the way the event turned out" commented co-owner Lis Conner. "Everyone was so complimentary and we really enjoyed hosting the event" she added.

Full results from all the USRA events can be found HERE and Race City Raceway will soon be hosting a USRA Division on Saturdays so more racers can get laps with the different spec cars for future USRA sanctioned events.

"When we opened the business, we knew we needed to have a "Box Stock Flexi" class so people who were new to slot car racing could learn about the cars and how to set them up" commented owner, Shannon Conner. "Now that we've been here a while and had full nights of racing, folks are starting to ask us for a "USRA Spec" class so they can race in other USRA events."

"I'd like to thank the USRA for giving us the opportuinity to host their Mid South Nationals, and I hope we can host more events for them in the future" he added.

Race City Raceway to begin hosting "USRA Spec" classes beginning June 19th. - By Charli Brown

Race City Raceway will begin racing "USRA Spec" rules and classes beginning Saturday, June 19th.

"After hosting the USRA Mid South Nationals here at Race City Raceway, a lot of our competitors thought it would be a great idea to race these same cars and rules so they could go to other USRA sanctioned events, while still being able to race them here" commented Race City Raceway owner, Shannon Conner.

"We'll have a complete set of rules and guidelines posted on the bulliten board and on our website very soon so folks can come in and build a "USRA Spec" car to race here on Saturdays."
